Strategic and Racial Equity Action Plan

This plan guides our work on racial equity.

Overview

To improve racial equity, we focus on seven key areas in our plan:

  • Public safety
  • Housing stability
  • Economic development
  • Diversity in the workforce
  • Diversity in spending
  • Data-driven decision making
  • Engaging with diverse communities

Our Strategic Racial Equity Action Plan (SREAP) connects with a bigger plan called Minneapolis 2040.

Our goals

This plan will help us decide where to put our resources.

REIB will:

  • Make our workforce more diverse
  • Spend money with more types of businesses
  • Make decisions based on data that looks at different races
  • Use boards and commissions to create better connections with communities

How we make decisions

We use a process called Racial Equity Impact Analysis (REIA). This helps us think about how our decisions affect people of color.

When we use REIA

We use this process when:

  • Making new laws or changing existing ones
  • Changing City policies
  • Trying to see how the recommendations of boards and commissions affect racial equity.

By keeping racial fairness in mind, REIA helps us make better decisions.

What we consider before deciding

When we make decisions, we consider:

  • Policies
  • Practices
  • Programs
  • Budgets
