Nicollet Ave Construction

Project overview

The New Nicollet Avenue project will rebuild Nicollet Avenue from Lake Street to Cecil Newman Lane. It will also improve the bridge over the Midtown Greenway. Cecil Newman Lane will be redone from Nicollet Ave to 1st Ave S. An ADA-compliant access ramp will be added for easier access to the Midtown Greenway from 1st Avenue S.

Upgrades will include:

• New sidewalks
• ADA pedestrian ramps
• Bicycle accommodations
• New pavement
• New curb and gutter
• Utility improvements

The project will also include as needed:

• Signal improvements
• New signage
• New pavement markings

Project schedule

Nicollet Ave will open to traffic November 24, 2026. In Spring 2027 work on Cecil Newman will continue between 1^st Ave connecting into Nicollet Ave. Remaining work on Nicollet Ave will include fencing, irrigation system install, and planting. The new asphalt will also be seal coated in July 2027.
