Homelessness prevention and response

All residents deserve a safe place to live, sleep and work. We offer resources to help the homeless and people who need emergency housing.

Overview

The City is working to prevent and end homelessness.

This includes responding to the needs of people who are currently facing homelessness.

What we do

  • Fund programs that help families stabilize and emerge from homelessness
  • Partner with Hennepin County to use the federal Emergency Solutions grant
  • Work with developers to increase the amount of affordable housing in the City
  • Respond to the needs of:
    • Unsheltered individuals
    • Private property owners who have encampments on their property
  • Address health and safety concerns related to homelessness
