Resurfacing usually takes two or three days, depending on the number of asphalt layers to be installed. The days may or may not be consecutive. 

The City allows private utility companies to do work before a resurfacing project. Companies might work in a project area for several days or weeks before City crews resurface. 

Before work begins, you will receive a series of notifications:

• Property owners will receive an invitation to a community engagement meeting before a project starts.
• The City will mail a letter to property owners along the project area a week before work starts.
• A day before construction starts, the City will post "No parking" signs and property owners with a landline phone will receive a phone call.

Street resurfacing costs

Street resurfacing may result in a special assessment if it benefits your property. In these cases, benefiting property owners pay only a part of the project cost. The City pays the remaining costs. The square footage of your lot determines your assessment amount.
