Program history and partners

Hundreds of MSP TechHire program graduates have joined the tech workforce.

Background

How we started

In 2015, Minneapolis became one of the first cities to take part in the federal TechHire initiative. Its purpose was to expand the tech workforce in the Minneapolis and Saint Paul area.

In our first year, we had over 300 program graduates. Since then, hundreds of program graduates have found professional tech jobs with one of our 500 employer partners.

Our results in numbers

  • 1,875 TechHire grads hired
  • Over 500 companies hired graduates
  • Average wage gain is $14.92 per hour over previous work
  • 258 scholarships awarded to low-income job seekers
    • 50 percent of scholarships went to Black, Indigenous People of Color workers
    • $2 million dollar investment
