Minneapolis residents at risk of eviction can get help paying rent and utilities.

Overview

We are committed to supporting renters and helping people stay in their home. After Operation Metro Surge, the City is helping residents at risk of eviction.

Who can get help

You can receive assistance if all of the following are true:

  • You live in Minneapolis.

    Check that your rental unit is in Minneapolis. Visit the property information search page and enter your address. Search for property information

  • Your household income is at or below 30% of the Area Median Income (AMI). The program counts income from every adult in your home.
    Check if your income qualifies
  • You received a 30-day pre-eviction filing notice from your landlord. This notice explains what you owe, when you must pay it, and who you can contact to make the payment.

Contact one of these organizations. They will check if you qualify and help you start your application.

The City of Minneapolis cannot access the application system or help with applications.

 

Income limits

To qualify, your household must make no more than the amounts shown. Larger households have higher income limits.

Example: If four people live in your home, your total household income must be $39,720 or less per year to qualify.

When you apply, you will need to share what the adults in your household earned in the last month. The organization helping you apply will explain which documents you need.
