What to do

Call 911 to report dangerous situations

Call 911 when:

  • Someone needs medical attention.
  • Fireworks are directed at people or property.
  • Fireworks start a fire or cause smoldering.
  • Children are using fireworks unsupervised.  


Contact 311 to report noise

Note: 311 is closed on July 4. Information obtained will be reviewed by the Minneapolis police department.

Legal and illegal fireworks in Minneapolis

  • Legal – Nonexplosive fireworks like sparklers, cones and snakes
  • Illegal – Fireworks that explode or fly, such as firecrackers, bottle rockets, missiles and Roman candles
