Quick change addresses staff shortage
Beginning Monday, June 20, yard waste pickup will change from weekly to every other week for some parts of south, southwest and northeast Minneapolis to adjust for a staff shortage. Minneapolis Solid Waste & Recycling customers whose collection will change to every other week live in:
- South: east of I-35W.
- Southwest: south of Minnehaha Creek.
- Northeast: south of 22nd Avenue NE; customers should check the map to see if their yard waste collection is changing.
Solid Waste & Recycling customers who live in those areas should:
- Leave properly prepared yard waste at their curb or alley line until it’s collected if they can.
- Call the Solid Waste & Recycling office at 612-673-2917 if their yard waste has not been picked up for more than two weeks.
Collection will be every other week on regular pickup day, but for the most efficient routes it might not align with customers’ recycling week. They can find their yard waste pickup week in the map on the City website: scroll down the page to find their location in the map. “ABE” week is the week of June 20 and every other week thereafter. “CD” week is the week of June 27 and every other week after that.
Solid Waste & Recycling customers can also call the Solid Waste & Recycling office during office hours at 612-673-2917 for help finding their yard waste collection day. Please note that the office is closed June 20 for the Juneteenth holiday.
Staff understand this is inconvenient and are grateful for customers’ patience and understanding while the City works through staffing issues. The goal is to always provide the highest quality service possible.
