At 5:33 am Tuesday morning, officers from the Minneapolis Police Department responded to reports of a crash in the area of Glenwood and Xerxes Avenues.
Officers arrived and located a vehicle north of the intersection on its roof with an adult female pinned underneath it. Officers checking the female found her to be deceased. There was no evidence that lead officers to believe anyone else was in the car at the time of the crash.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle was eastbound on Glenwood when it left the roadway, east of Theodore Wirth Parkway, and subsequently rolled over, ejecting the driver. There is also evidence to lead investigators to believe the vehicle may have been operated without a left front tire for a period of time before leaving the roadway. Speed and failure to wear a seatbelt are possible contributing factors.
The victim is an adult female, believed to be in her mid-30s from Minneapolis.
Minneapolis Police Department’s Crime Lab and Traffic Investigations Unit responded to the scene to investigate this incident.
The Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identity of the victim along the nature and cause of death.
The Go Number for this case is 21-099137.
