Eligibility and focus
Free and open to all
All PHCI courses are free. Anyone can register to attend a PHCI course. You can attend as an individual, or as a part of an organization.
Our focus
We support community members offering public health services. We prioritize supporting those who are working with community members that experience high health disparities.

PHCI tracks
Individual courses
You can choose to take individual courses in the core competency series. These courses are open to anyone.
You may choose courses based on your interests. You will learn more about public health concepts.
Full course series and apply for funding
Your organization can choose to take the full core competency series and apply to receive funding for a community project. We call this demonstration funding. You can use demonstration funding to make a public health program or resource in your community.
A few organizations will be awarded up to $15,000 each. Our program partner, Advocates for Better Health (ABH) manages the funds and provides coaching support.
- Completing the core competency series does not guarantee you will receive funding.
- Applicants selected for demonstration funding must complete additional post-fund trainings.
- The application for demonstration funding will open in January 2027. Awardees will be notified in February 2027.

Register for courses
November - December 2026
PHCI courses are offered in-person.
Courses will be held from 5 to 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday evenings, starting Nov. 4 and ending Dec. 16, 2026. There will be no course on Wednesday, Nov. 11.
If you plan to apply for demonstration funding, you must attend all 6 course sessions.
