Disposal method: Large non-recyclable item pick up, Drop-off

Post on a neighborhood social media platform to see if anyone in your neighborhood is interested.

Disposal method: Garbage

Empty paint cans or cans with dried latex paint may be put in your garbage cart. Leave the lid off so the collection crew can see it's empty. Paint and paint cans are not accepted at the South Transfer Station.

Bring liquid paint and dried oil-based paint to one of the following

• Hennepin County Drop-off facility
• Retail store participating in PaintCare program

• type of paint accepted
• container sizes accepted
• quantities accepted

Disposal method: Hazardous waste

Remove cartridge from device if possible. You can throw empty cartridges in the trash. You must bring vapes and electronic cigarettes with rechargeable batteries inside to a drop-off location. They are not accepted for pickup by Solid Waste and Recycling or drop off at the South Transfer Station.  

• Any type of residential battery, bring to a Hennepin County Drop-Off facility
• For local drop-offs for rechargeable batteries, search The Battery Network's website

You must tape the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals of the batteries for safe storage and transport.

Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries can cause fires. They are used in many common items like

• electronic greeting cards and toys
• cellphones, smart watches and laptops
• power tools and electric lawn equipment
• e-bikes and electric vehicles

Fires can and do occur in collection vehicles and at waste and recycling facilities. Properly manage batteries to prevent injuries and destruction to vehicles and facilities.

Items marked Caution, Caustic, Corrosive, Danger, Flammable, Poison, Volatile, or Warning are considered hazardous waste.

Empty containers should be put in the garbage.
