Disposal method: Organics, Garbage

Facial tissues or toilet paper used for blowing your nose can be composted. Bag and put in your organics recycling cart. Organics may be set out in a paper grocery bag or a BPI certified compostable plastic bag.

Toilet paper used to clean one's bottom is not accepted for composting.

The commercial composting process is hot enough to kill bacteria that may be in your tissues.

Compost facilities do not take toilet paper or tissues used in conjunction with urine or poo.

Unused toilet paper is not recyclable. The fibers in the paper are too short to be made into another paper product.

Disposal method: Garbage

Loose bottle caps should be bagged and put in the garbage.

Do not place caps loose into your recycling cart. They are too small to be properly sorted by themselves. They will fall through the sorting equipment and end up in the glass where they will be thrown away by the glass processor.

To recycle metal bottle caps, put them inside a metal soup can and pinch the top so they cannot fall out.

Items marked Caution, Caustic, Corrosive, Danger, Flammable, Poison, Volatile, or Warning are considered hazardous waste.

Empty containers should be put in the garbage.

Bag and put in or set next to your garbage cart with a sign that says "for Solid Waste". Plexi-glass is made of a non-recyclable type of plastic.

• Recycling sorting facilities can only take glass bottles and jars. If it came with a food or beverage inside it, it is recyclable, even if it is broken. Empty mason jars are also recyclable.
