Solid Waste & Recycling customers get 6 clean up vouchers each year. With a voucher, you can bring extra garbage, large items and building materials to the South Transfer Station. You must request a voucher before going to the transfer station.

Fun fact:

Chromated copper arsenate (CCA) is used as a wood preservative. CCA is made of

  • copper, which acts as a fungicide
  • arsenate, a form of arsenic, which is an insecticide
  • chromium, which binds the ingredients to the wood

CCA-treated wood should never be burned or shredded for mulch.

What to do:
Trees, large branches, logs and stumps are not accepted for pickup by Solid Waste & Recycling or drop off at the South Transfer Station.
More information:
Contractors who trim or remove trees and stumps often will take them with them. Search online for tree or stump removal to find a contractor.
Fun fact:

State law prohibits disposing of yard waste with the garbage.

You could also keep it in a box with other small electronic or metal items. When the box is full, set it next to your recycling cart by 6 a.m. on your recycling day. Label the box "for Solid Waste". The crew will write your item on a list and a separate truck will come the next business day to pick it up for recycling.
