Recycling sorting facilities are not designed to sort out hangers of any material (plastic, metal or wood).

Fun fact:
Recycling facilities only accept plastic bottles and containers #1 (PET), #2 (HDPE), and #5 (PP) from food, beverages, bathroom and laundry products.
Other plastic items that are too big or too small are not able to be sorted correctly. They also do not take plastics that are black in color.

Fun fact:
The only component of the blener that will be recycled is the motor. You could keep it in a box with other small electronic or metal items. When the box is full, set it next to your recycling cart on your recycling day. Label the box "for Solid Waste". The garbage crew will write your item on a list and a separate truck will come the next business day to pick it up for recycling.

Not accepted by Solid Waste & Recycling and cannot be brought to the South Transfer Station.
Ask your contractor for disposal options or contact a local metal recycler or landfill.
More information:

Boilers may contain asbestos and need to be disposed of properly. If you're having it replaced, check with your contractor to find out if they have a take-back program. The Department of Health maintains a list of licensed asbestos contractors and has information about asbestos and proper removal procedures.
