Project overview

In 2017 and 2018, the City analyzed 10 years of crash data for trends to inform future work. This analysis shows that there are many car crashes in the Phillips Neighborhood. These car crashes cause injuries and even deaths.

Project goals

The project’s goal is to reduce speeding and improve traffic safety. By meeting these goals the street will be more comfortable for people walking, rolling, or driving. This project is part of the City's Vision Zero goal to prevent severe injuries and deaths from traffic crashes.

Información en español

Project update - Summer 2022

The Phillips Traffic Safety Project will be working through conceptual design over the Summer and Fall of 2022. The project team seeks your feedback during conceptual design. We will be attending community events throughout the summer and fall.

In the Summer and Fall of 2021 the City of Minneapolis completed phase 1 of project engagement. The engagement summary is found in the project resources section below.

The city is using phase 1 project feedback to inform conceptual design this summer. The project team is approaching conceptual design this summer in two phases. Phase 1 will focus on 24th St E between I-35W and Hiawatha Ave and phase two will begin sometime later this Fall and will focus on 26th and 28th St E.
