40th St. Bikeway
In 2022, the City plans to install a new bikeway on 40th St. in southwest Minneapolis.
Project overview
This project will fill a critical link in the city’s All Ages and Abilities bicycle network by replacing the existing directional bike lanes on 40th Street with a two-way protected bikeway on the south side of the street. The project will include roadway striping and delineator posts with no physical construction.
Timeline
The 40th Street Bikeway will be installed during pavement restoration work on 40th Street in the Summer 2022.
- October – December 2021: Concept design and community engagement
- January – March 2022: Detailed Engineering
- Summer 2022: Installation
