Connect with safety services and support in one place

The South Minneapolis Community Safety Center is a new kind of City facility designed to make it easier for people to connect with the help they need.

The center will bring together:

  • City services
  • Community-based organizations
  • Minneapolis Police Department 3rd Precinct
  • Other safety resources

All of these programs and services will be located in one place at 2633 Minnehaha Ave.

Construction is underway

The South Minneapolis Community Safety Center is currently under construction. It is expected to open between April and June 2027.

Community input has helped shape both the center and services that will be available there.

Planned services and resources

City services

311 Service Center

The South Minneapolis Community Safety Center will have a 311 Service Center. We will be able to help with non-emergency City requests and services.

Minneapolis Police Department 3rd Precinct

The new center will provide a permanent home for the 3rd precinct within the geographic area it serves. It is designed differently than a traditional standalone station, as it will operate alongside other City services and community-based providers.

Community-based services

We'll have several community-based services from partner organizations.

They will include:

  • Community-led mental health and wellbeing services
  • Human trafficking prevention and intervention services
  • Youth Connection Center in partnership with Hennepin County

Community meeting space

The center will also have a conference room for the community to host meetings.

Safety-related services

There will be various support services related to safety and well-being.

They will include:

  • Community navigators
  • Domestic violence navigators
