Redistricting

A process to set new election district lines based on the current population.

I want to

Making sure everyone is fairly represented

The United States conducts a census to count its residents every 10 years. With that current data, new election district boundaries are drawn. This is redistricting.

An important part of redistricting is that the new districts have equal population. So no matter where you live, you have equal representation.

The Charter Commission, along with an advisory group, sets the boundaries for:

  • 13 council wards
  • 6 park districts
