Energy rebates
About the program
- Rebates for energy-saving improvements
- Payment issued after completion of an eligible project
- No energy assessment required
Who should apply
Any single family home or two to four unit property.
Eligible projects
- Air source heat pumps
- Heat pump water heaters
- Attic, wall or rim joist insulation
- Furnaces and boilers paired with an air source heat pump

- Terms up to 10 years and $20,000
- Free energy assessments through the Home Energy Squad
Who should apply
- Residents with a household income less than 150% of the Area Median Income (AMI)
- Owner occupied single family and two to four unit properties

- Attic, wall and rim joist insulation
- Air source heat pumps
- Heat pump electric water heaters
- Gas furnaces and boilers paired with an air source heat pump
- Health and safety upgrades that are a barrier to weatherization

- Energy improvements at low or no upfront cost
- Energy assessments through Cooperative Energy Futures

Who should apply
Owners of a single family property who:
- Have lived in the home for at least 12 months
- Are willing to provide historic and future utility bill data
Eligible projects
- Attic, wall and rim joist insulation
- Air or ground source heat pumps
- Gas furnaces and boilers
- Electric panel upgrades to enable electrification
Low Income Rental Efficiency
(LIRE)
About the program
- Covers 90% of project cost (50% from CenterPoint, 40% from the City)
- City and utility matches are paid to the contractor
- Free energy assessments by Frontier Energy
- Provide free renter efficiency kit
Who should apply
- Owners of a one to four unit rental property
- Properties where at least half of rental units have a household income less than 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI)
- CenterPoint gas customers
Eligible projects
- Attic, wall and rim joist insulation
- Tune-up, repair or replacement of gas heating systems
- Gas water heaters
- Ducted (central) air source heat pumps on a case-by-case basis
Healthy Homes Weatherization
About the program
- Covers 100% of project cost after utility rebates
- Free energy assessments through the Home Energy Squad
- End-to-end project management and support
Who should apply
- Residents with a household income less than 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI)
- Owner occupied one to four unit properties
Eligible projects
- Attic, wall and rim joist insulation
- Water heater repair or replacement
- Furnace and boiler repair or replacement
- Bath fan installation
- Health and safety upgrades that are a barrier to weatherization (such as electrical, asbestos, water intrusion)
- Air source heat pumps
Income eligibility check
Area Median Income (AMI) table
AMI is a measure of household income. It is used by utilities and governments to determine the eligibility for income-qualified programs. The limits are updated annually in May by the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Use this table to see if your household size qualifies for programs that use 50%, 80% and 150% AMI.
