Student internship

This EMS Pathways Academy provides students training to learn what it is like to be an Emergency Medical technician (EMT) and to take the EMT certification test. 

  • There is no cost to apply.
  • Selected participants are paid $17.05 an hour.

  • Attend an informational session
  • Met the applicant requirements
  • Pass the physical exam
  • Complete and submit your application
  • Receive notification of your acceptance
  • Attend, in-person, all classes
  • Take the EMT certification test

Applicant requirements

Interested applicants must meet all of these requirements:

  • Be 18 years of age
  • Have a high school diploma or GED
  • Be authorized to work in the United States
  • Be able to attend a daytime 12-week course

Hiring process

  • Screening session 1: pre-selection testing and intake
  • Screening session 2: panel interviews and physical agility exam
  • Selected candidates undergo pre-employment background check

Class dates and times

  • Classes are held Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 
  • Classes start March 2, 2026
