UPDATE: Somali TPS termination temporarily paused

A federal court has temporarily stopped the end of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Somalia. TPS remains in effect for now, pending further court action.

Know your rights and resources

City employees won't ask your status

Minneapolis has a separation ordinance. When you come to the City for help, the ordinance says that City employees cannot:

  • Ask about your citizenship or immigration status
  • Ask you for documents to prove your immigration status
  • Use any knowledge of your status to enforce immigration laws
