Tree Ambassador qualifications
Ideal candidates:
- Are at least 18 years old
- Represent the communities they serve
- Have community engagement experience
- Have strong community ties and a deep understanding of their neighborhood
- Are enthusiastic and passionate about trees and improving their community
- Have connections to the Minneapolis Green Zones
- We may also consider those working in other low tree canopy areas.

Tree Ambassador duties
Community engagement
The Tree Ambassadors will be responsible for community engagement using City materials.
Tree ambassadors can choose the type of engagement that works best for their neighborhood. Engagement tactics can include:
- Door-knocking
- Flyering
- Tabling
- Attending a block party or neighborhood event
- Planning outreach events
- Social media posts
Support from the City
As a Tree Ambassador you’ll be supported every step of the way:
- City Trees will provide training. There is no experience or knowledge about trees required.
- City Trees will provide free, full-service planting for all trees.

Information session
Attend an online information session to learn more about the Tree Ambassador program:
- Information session one: Thursday, Jan. 22, 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m.
- Information session two: Wednesday, Feb. 11, 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Important dates
Jan. 15 – Feb. 28: Application for Tree Ambassadors open
Jan. 22: Information session one
Feb. 11: Information session two
March 1– 14: City Trees reviews applications
March 15– 30: City Trees will notify selected Tree Ambassadors
April: Required Tree Ambassador in-person orientation
May 1– Aug. 15: Tree Ambassadors conduct outreach
November: Tree Ambassador end of program celebration
