We explain the how you can get a tree through the City Trees Sale.

Overview

We are selling low-cost trees to increase the city’s canopy.

Planting a tree will:

  • Shade your yard
  • Reduce energy bills
  • Increase property values

Tree information

Trees are 3 to 7 feet tall.

There are over 15 types of shade and evergreen trees available.

Your tree purchase includes:

  • One bag of mulch
  • Information about planting and caring for your trees

Cost

  • Each tree is $30
Trees from City Trees sale in 2024.

 

Steps to get a tree

Step 1

April 1 - 30

Tree ordering

You can order trees during this time even if you did not enter the lottery.

Everyone who entered the City Trees Lottery has had the chance to order their trees. There are still trees available.

Order now until 4 p.m. on April 30, or until supplies last.

Ordering information

  • Trees must be planted on private property, not on the boulevard (area between street and sidewalk) or City right of way
  • If you are a rental property owner, you may place separate orders for each planting address
  • You can order up to three trees per planting address
  • Read the tree bios to choose trees that will be a good fit for you

Step 2

May 30 - June 1

Tree pickup

Residents who purchased trees must pick them up at our distribution weekend.

We will email the pickup location, to people who purchased trees, the week of May 26th.

Pickup dates

  • Friday, May 30, 1 - 5 p.m.
  • Saturday, May 31, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
  • Sunday, June 1, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Reminders for tree planting

  • You must call Gopher State One Call at least three days before digging at 651-454-0002. They will mark buried utility lines for your safety.
  • You must plant your trees on private property, not on the boulevard. A boulevard is the area between sidewalk and street.
  • You can wait a few days to plant your tree, but water it daily until you plant it.
