Service Center Agents
Service Center Agents are available during all operating hours. They can help you with non-emergency questions and service requests.
They are part of the City's 311 department.

Be at School
Be at School offers support to students and families.
They can help families:
- Enroll in school
- Navigate resources for school
- Connect to educational tools (e.g. laptops, tutoring, internet)
- Advocacy

Community Navigators
Community Navigators can provide cultural or issue-specific support. They can serve as a liaison between community and law enforcement.
They can help victims and survivors:
- Connect to MPD about a current incident or case
- Find more resources from other community agencies

Crime prevention specialists
Crime prevention specialists help to create safe communities. They can help you with safety concerns and resolve conflicts.
They can help by:
- Connecting victims with support services
- Offering security advice and safety planning
- Serving as a bridge between police and residents

Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches (GMCC)
GMCC offers recovery support to people who are struggling with substance use disorder. This support is specific to the East African community.
They also offer housing services, such as rental help and rapid rehousing.

Lake Street Safety Coordinator
The Lake Street Safety Coordinator can help business and property owners in the area.
They can help with:
- Graffiti issues
- Lighting concerns
- Security camera registration
- Broken glass replacement
- Referrals to case management or outreach workers

LEAD Minneapolis
LEAD Minneapolis provides care and support to individuals in need of services in the E. Lake St. area.
They can:
- Help people connect or re-connect with other services or case managers
- Book an appointment with a doctor or other professionals
- Check in with current members on assessments or goals
- Offer resources like hygiene products or refreshments

Second and fourth Wednesday of the month
9 a.m. - 11 a.m.
Minneapolis Police Department (MPD)
Minneapolis Police Department officers visit the Lake Street Safety Center throughout the week. They are often present in the area, helping community members and businesses.
To request meeting with an officer, check in with the 311 Service Center staff on site. MPD officers can take reports or help with other police services.
Non-emergency police reports
You can file a non-emergency police report in person at the safety center.
We can help you report incidents like:
- Theft
- Lost property
- Damage to property
Reports can be filed in person until one hour prior to the safety center closing.
You can also file non-emergency reports by calling 311 or completing the online form.
Apply in-person
You can apply in-person for the following permits and programs.
Resources available at no cost
Naloxone (NARCAN)
Naloxone (NARCAN) is a lifesaving drug that can immediately reverse an opioid overdose. You can get free NARCAN at the safety center.
Graffiti removal solvent
Free quarts of graffiti removal solvent are available at the Lake Street Safety Center.
Gun locks
We are a community partner that can provide you with a free gun lock. This is part of the State of Minnesota’s Safe & Secure initiative.
Children's books
The Lake Street Safety Center has a community library that offers free books to children.
