Families with children in Minneapolis Public Schools

Stable Homes Stable Schools (SHSS) helps families pay rent if they qualify based on income and have children in a Minneapolis Public Schools elementary school.

  • When school is in session, families can talk to their school’s social worker to see if they qualify and get a referral to the program.
  • During school break, families can email shss@mpls.k12.mn.us
  • Minneapolis Public Schools families and children can use the HelpMe App to connect to many types of assistance and support

Suicide and Crisis Lifeline

The 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline is a way that people can connect with confidential urgent health and support. This help is for anyone who is experiencing a mental health, substance use, or suicide crisis, or any type of emotional distress.

Cope Mobile Crisis Response from Hennepin County 

The Cope Mobile Crisis team can come to where you are located. Cope responds to anyone in Hennepin County who needs urgent response. There are bilingual and bicultural staff available.

Request healing circle or psychological first aid training

Residents who want to request someone to facilitate a healing circle or psychological first aid training, contact Hennepin County COPE directly.

Walk-in behavioral health support

Community members can visit the 1800 Chicago - Behavioral Health Center for walk-in needs. Needs can be related to mental health and substance use disorder.

Crisis Text Line

Crisis Text Line provides free, 24/7 mental health support via text messaging, allowing individuals in crisis to connect with trained counselors for immediate assistance.
