Help curb climate change

The City has created climate and equity goals through 2033.

The Climate Equity Plan was unanimously passed by City Council on July 20, 2023 and signed by Mayor Frey on July 25, 2023.

Plan goals

Climate change is already impacting Minneapolis communities.

The Climate Equity Plan sets a goal to:

  • Significantly reduce climate pollution by 2030
  • Become carbon neutral by 2050

But it’s not just about the environment. It’s about people.

This work prioritizes diverse residents, organizations and businesses, especially in our Green Zones.

Our work:

  • Reduces utility bills
  • Increases green jobs
  • Creates a healthier, more prosperous future for everyone

The City of Minneapolis is committed to take on these challenges. It will take time, but together we create the future.

Old plan

This plan replaced our old Climate Action Plan, which expired in 2023. Contact the Sustainability team if you are interested in reading the old plan.
