Brownfield grant deadlines and process

You can apply for brownfield grant funds in the spring and the fall.

You must meet the pre-application deadline to submit a grantor application.

Follow these steps to pre-apply for each of the brownfield grants you want to obtain.

Steps to pre-apply for grants from DEED and Hennepin County

Step 1

Email a request for SharePoint access

The City uses its online SharePoint site to receive your pre-application submission materials.

Send us an email to request access to SharePoint.

  • In the subject line write: Sharepoint Access Request
  • In the body of the email, tell us:
    • The name of your project
    • The names and email addresses of any parties who will need SharePoint access to work on your project application.

Step 2

Get login instructions

We will:

  • Set up a folder with your project's name.
  • Send you an email with your login instructions.
Step 3

Log in and complete the pre-application

  • Follow the login instructions.
  • When you log in, you will see a folder with your project’s name. It will include:
    • A blank DEED cleanup application form
    • A blank Hennepin County ERF application form
    • A blank Grant Assessment Worksheet (GAW) form
  • Complete and submit the appropriate pre-application form(s).
  • You must submit the grant processing fee with your application.

Pre-apply for grants from the Met Council

The Metropolitan Council is making big changes to its grant programs. This includes new deadlines and new application steps.

The application form for the spring 2026 brownfield grant round is not ready yet. The Met Council is replacing its old online grant system (WebGrants) with a new system called Fluxx. City staff and the public cannot access Fluxx yet.

Funding for environmental investigation or cleanup

Contact us as soon as possible for details about the City’s pre-application process for Met Council funding.

The City’s pre-application deadline is March 5, 2026.
