Today, Mayor Jacob Frey and the City of Minneapolis expressed disappointment in the court’s denial of a Preliminary Injunction to end Operation Metro Surge and relieve Minneapolis, St. Paul, and Minnesota of the tremendous harm being caused in our communities.
“Of course, we’re disappointed,” said Mayor Frey. “This decision doesn’t change what people here have lived through — fear, disruption, and harm caused by a federal operation that never belonged in Minneapolis in the first place. This operation has not brought public safety. It’s brought the opposite and has detracted from the order we need for a working city. It’s an invasion, and it needs to stop.”
Today’s decision is just one step in this lawsuit. The City will continue to pursue the lawsuit to hold the Trump administration to account.
Minneapolis is a welcoming city, where we foster inclusion and safety for all. The whole world has watched as we have become the epicenter of the Trump administration’s ire. It needs to stop.
While there is nothing that can bring back our neighbors, Renee Good and Alex Pretti, Minneapolis will always honor their memories.
