Grant Street Bikeway, 1st Ave S to LaSalle Ave
The City will build a two-way on-street in-curb protected bikeway. The project will be on Grant Street between 1st Ave and LaSalle Ave.
Project overview
Public Works will construct a two-way bikeway on Grant Street, between 1st Ave S and LaSalle Ave in the Loring Neighborhood. The project will connect the current bikeways on 1st Ave, 2nd Ave, Nicollet Ave and La Salle Ave. Grant Street is on the All Ages and Abilities Bikeway Network. This project will improve biking comfort and safety and add traffic calming.
The project is part of the Loring Park ADA pedestrian ramp upgrades and resurfacing, and will only impact the roadway space, sidewalks and curbs will not change. The project will include:
- New two-way bikeway
- New bikeway curb
- New pavement markings
Project purpose
This project will fill a gap in the All Ages and Abilities bike network by connecting existing bikeways. Existing bikeways include 1st Ave, 2nd Ave, Nicollet Ave, and La Salle Ave.
It will add a protected bikeway for the more than 100 people who bike there each day and for future riders. The City will also upgrade ADA pedestrian ramps and resurface nearby areas in Loring Park.
