Public Health Pathways

Our program offers internship pathways and direct experience in public health.

We created the Public Health Pathways Program (PHPP) in 2024. Our goal is to give students educational and direct experiences in public health.

Our program provides internship experiences for students in:

Goals and mission

Goals

We help develop entry-level positions through PHPP.

Our goals are to:

  • Provide paid jobs for students. This helps give opportunities for people without higher education.
  • Offer part-time jobs for college students who are studying public health. Those interested in a degree in public health, a related field, or a non-related field are also eligible.
  • Create entry-level positions with fewer barriers. This is to allow for a more diverse applicant pool.
  • Prioritize hiring people who have completed a PHPP internship in the past.

Mission

Our vision is to provide youth and young adults an internship that:

  • Offers students early introduction and hands-on experience.
  • Creates pathways to employment for those interested in public health careers that serve Minneapolis communities.
  • Diversifies the public health workforce within our department and beyond.
