What to expect

Each restaurant that joins will take part in a 16-week program. It is filled with hands-on activities, learning, and meaningful progress.
Orientation

Kick-off orientation

Lead staff participates in a 1.5 hour training session. This is to onboard and prepare for participation in the Food Forward program.

Step 1

Audit and site visit

Food Forward coaches conduct a food sort and give a detailed analysis. The analysis will include tips and next steps to help restaurants take action.

Step 2

Training courses

Learn new strategies through simple, online learning classes to:

  • Boost profits
  • Increase kitchen efficiency
  • Manage scraps and surplus food

These courses are short. You will receive payment and a certificate of completion

Step 3

Strategy selection

Review your personalized recommendations. Then commit to a plan of action. The Food Forward coaches will support you along the way. You will be connected to resources for putting into action select strategies.

Step 4

Coaching support

Commit six weeks to using the strategies you chose. You will get five free coaching hours to support and guide your restaurant to success.

Step 5

Follow-up and evaluation

To finish the challenge, you can:

  • Have a final meeting to look back on what you’ve accomplished.
  • Fill out a short survey to share your feedback and ideas.

You can connect to available resources to continue the wasted food prevention journey.
