Green fleet vehicles

You can see how the City is adding green vehicles and practices to its fleet.

Our green fleet policy

The City of Minneapolis approved a green fleet policy to help:

  • Fulfill our commitment to sustainability
  • Reduce the short-term and long-term costs of City vehicles

The policy gives us clearer direction and standards for all City departments.  Minneapolis is one of the first government agencies in the Twin Cities metro area to put a green fleet policy into place.

The risks of pollution

Cars and trucks are the largest contributor of air pollution within Minneapolis. They are a significant source of greenhouse gases. Carbon dioxide pollution is a greenhouse gas. It causes climate change.

Air pollution is linked to increased rates of:

  • Cancer
  • Heart and lung disease
  • Asthma and allergies
