Focus

After Planning Commission review, the focus of the amendment became more specific.

  • Make sure higher quality building materials are used on all sides.
  • Keep buildings in the City simple and well-designed by carefully selecting materials.
  • Make sure different materials are placed together for a smooth transition.
  • Make sure the high-quality materials proposed are not substituted for lower quality.

Goals of the amendment

Make sure that important parts of the Minneapolis 2040 plan are carried out.

This includes creating a high-quality environment by promoting an urban landscape that is:

  • Durable
  • Affordable
  • Attractive

Meetings

Staff attended City Planning Commission Committee of the Whole on June 15 and Aug. 17, 2023.

At the meeting, they:

  • Shared suggest changes to the code
  • Asked the Planning Commission for feedback.
  • Receive helpful and positive comments.
