Kitchen exhaust duct cleaning permit

You need a permit before you professionally clean a kitchen exhaust duct.

What to know

  • A licensed contractor must inspect, and if necessary, clean commercial kitchen exhaust systems twice a year.
  • Contractors must apply for a permit and pay the fee before cleaning each system.
  • Allow 15 business days for us to process your permit.

Upload your plans to ProjectDox

After we process your application, we'll email you with instructions for uploading your plans to ProjectDox.

Step 3

Make revisions if needed

We'll prescreen your submitted plans, and let you know if we see any issues. Submit any needed revisions through ProjectDox. 

Once we approve your plans, you can download them.

Pay the fee

Submit photos

The contractor must submit photos of the exhaust system before and after work is complete. The photos must:

  • Be submitted to ProjectDox within five business days of the work being completed.
  • Be date stamped.
  • Clearly indicate which photos apply to which systems.
