Commercial building registration
What to know
Why register commercial buildings
Every commercial building in Minneapolis must be registered with the City. It helps us:
- Carry out building and fire code inspections
- Notify people during an emergency
- Respond quicker to 311 requests
- Update City property records
When to update your registration
- Annually
- Any time the owner changes
Registration requirements
- Minneapolis uses one registration form for all types of commercial buildings.
- In multi-use buildings, you only need to register the area(s) that are not used for living.
Registration process
