Regulated backflow assembly and testing

Property owners are required to test regulated backflow assembly devices and report the results.

Overview

A backflow assembly is a water backflow prevention device. It protects potable water from contamination or pollution due to backflowThe building code regulates these devices under the regulated backflow assembly (RBA) program.

How it works

You must submit the regulated backflow assembly permit application within two weeks of:

  • Installing
  • Replacing
  • Relocating
  • Removing a device

The company that performs RBA-related work must complete and submit the regulated backflow assembly permit application form. 

A RBA-certified tester must complete the backflow assembly test.
