What to know

When you apply for a business license in Minneapolis, we ask for some private information about you. We use this to check things like your driving and criminal history, arrest records, and any warrants.

You don’t have to give us this information. But if you choose not to, we won’t be able to finish our review, and we won’t process your application.

The information you give us becomes public. It may be shared with:

  • The Minneapolis Police Department
  • The License Inspection Unit
  • The Division of Licenses and Consumer Services
  • The Minneapolis City Council
  • The general public
