Marshall Terrace had a lower labor force participation rate than Minneapolis between 1980 and 2000. In addition, the neighborhood experienced a significant drop-off in this figure between 1990 and 2000.

Marshall Terrace's 1980 unemployment rate was above Minneapolis', but it dropped in 1990 and 2000. In 2000, the neighborhood unemployment rate was well below Minneapolis, with only 1.8 percent of people in the civilian labor force looking for a job.
