Labor force

According to the Census Bureau, the labor force includes the population 16 years old and over who: 1- were "at work," worked at any time during the full calendar week preceding the date the census questionnaire was completed ("reference week"); 2- were "with a job but not at work," did not work during this week, but had jobs or business from which they were temporarily absent (excluding layoff); 3- were on temporary layoff and expected to be recalled to work within the next six months, or had been given a date to return to work, and 4- did not work during the "reference week," had looked for work during this week or the three previous weeks, and were available for work during the reference week. It also includes members of the U.S. Armed Forces.
