Mission and Focus

The mission and focus of Minneapolis Healthy Start is to assure that all babies, especially African American and American Indian babies, get the best possible start in life.

Minneapolis Healthy Start is a program committed to assisting pregnant and parenting families to have healthy pregnancies, safe births, and healthy babies who grow and thrive in their first years. The program provides in-home case management to advise on healthy pregnancy, help with appointments and resources to get ready for the new baby, nutrition advice, and friendly personal support.

After the baby is born the support continues and addresses parenting, dads’ roles, breastfeeding, safe sleep, safe travel, and family planning. Help with appointments and resources continues until the child is two years old.

Up-to-date information and educational materials can be accessed from this site.  Visit our brand-new page of Resources for Dads, too!
