“Don't Wait: Check the Date!"
NFPA has officially announced “Don't Wait: Check the Date! Replace Smoke Alarms Every 10 Years” as the theme for Fire Prevention Week, October 9-15, 2016. The focus on smoke alarm replacement comes as the result of a recent survey conducted by NFPA, which showed that many people don't know how old their smoke alarms are or how often they need to be replaced.
MFD adds NARCAN to treat overdose patients
The Fire Department has added Narcan to its complement of medical services provided in Minneapolis. The drug can reverse an overdose from heroin and other opioid-based drugs and medications. The Fire Department administers a vaporized version of the treatment nasally. The cost of the drug treatments and a portion of the training costs are being reimbursed by the Minnesota Metropolitan Emergency Services Board.

Originally located at 1816 Kenwood Parkway in 1892 with Chemical 8. The station was closed in 1895. Then New Station 22 opened at 1728 Kenwood Parkway in 1901 with Hose 22. The station and engine was eliminated in 1932. Station and Engine 22 were reorganized in 1993 at 3025 Market Plaza with manpower from closing of Station 13.
