Greetings from 311 Director, Don Stickney
Don came to the City of Minneapolis to handle the Minneapolis One Call Project, and was named assistant director at the launch of 311 on January 4, 2006. 311 Originally was staffed with 24 Call Center Agents, and open Monday through Friday 7 am to 11 pm. Due to budget contraints, the hours changed to Monday to Friday, 7 am to 7 pm in April of 2010. Minneapolis 311 call agents handle between 1200 and 1600 calls per day, in addition to many emails and voice mail contacts.
The greatest resource Minneapolis 311 has are the call center agents. Through April 2013, our call agents have handled over 2.7 million contacts for city Information and services.
Picutred below is a 311 CSA who is taking calls while using our treadmill workstation. The treadmill was provided via a grant to the City, and is used daily by a variety of 311 staff, who walk at a pace up to 2 mph, and take calls or do other work while getting a little exercise at the same time. At 311, we strive to make sure agents who use this workstation are able to handle calls in the same professional manner as is routinely provided our customers.
