Moving forward together

Real impacts in our neighborhoods and corridors

In the aftermath of Operation Metro Surge, the City of Minneapolis is moving forward – together – with real support that is making a difference across our city.

We are committed to honoring the resiliency of our neighbors. Community voices – especially from our immigrant, refugee, and cultural communities – are shaping how we respond and take action.

Across Minneapolis, you can see and feel the impact through:

  • Targeted investments
  • Activated commercial corridors
  • Support to reach the people and places most affected

License fee relief to help small businesses recover

After a difficult season for small businesses, we are helping put relief directly back into the hands of local business owners.

Through the Small Business Resiliency Fund, the City invested $4 million in license fee relief for more than 2,000 food and hospitality businesses across Minneapolis. This support helps cover renewal fees for many food, wine, liquor and brewery license holders impacted by Operation Metro Surge.

Refunds are on their way

For some businesses, that relief is arriving as a refund check in the mail in June. More than 1,100 eligible license holders who already paid their 2026 renewal fees are receiving checks, totaling over $1.75 million in refunds.

Questions about the license fee relief can be directed to Business Licensing at 612-673-2080 or Businesslicenses@minneapolismn.gov
