Requesting Police Data
The Records Information Unit handles all requests for Minneapolis Police Department data in accordance with department policy and Minnesota Data Practices law under Minnesota State Statute 13.82. To make a request for MPD data, or to check the status of an existing request, please click a button below.
Public information can be requested in person and accessed using computers in our lobby during our normal business hours.

Effective January 2, 2017 – New hours of public service
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Monday, Wednesday, Friday
8 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Tuesday and Thursday
Closed holidays and weekends.
It is not necessary to identify yourself when making a request for public data. All requests are handled on a first come, first serve basis.
Fees for Data Requests
Inspection of data is always free, however, there is a fee if you wish to receive printed or electronic copies of materials and reports. Staff will advise of charges before processing requests for printed or copied materials.
