Guardian Project

Police officers are the guardians of our community and are a special breed of people. They do the work that not just anybody could do, or even want to. Daily, they face the unknown, which after the events of September 11, has new importance and appreciation in all of our hearts.

The "Eastside Guardian" Community Project is a way to publicly acknowledge the outstanding job that our community’s police officers do every day, in the neighborhoods where we live and work. To this end, the "Eastside Guardian" Community Project Fundraising Committee has commissioned an artist to create a bronze sculpture that captures the pride, confidence and decency that the Eastside Minneapolis Community feels about the police officers that protect our homes, workplaces and neighborhoods.

The project is being carried out independent of city or state funding. We are asking businesses, organizations and individuals to support this tribute and take part in honoring our law enforcement officers. This is a time in our history when it is essential that their efforts are recognized and reinforced because they are the individuals who strive to make the Eastside a safe place to live, work and play.
