Field Training Program

Thank you for visiting us!

The Minneapolis Police Field Training Program is one of the longest Field Training Programs in North America. The program is five months long and is based on a proven, nationally recognized field training model, the San Jose Model.

The goals of our Field Training Program are to:

• Recruit, select, and retain experienced officers of the highest caliber to serve as Field Training Officers (FTOs) and Field Training Sergeants (FTSs), and
• Phase recruits into the Minneapolis Police Department through use of training and practical experience in the field.
