Pawn Shop Items Check

Items pawned in Minneapolis pawn shops and in some suburban and outlying cities are automatically matched against property reported as stolen, lost or recovered with the MPD. This is done through the MPD's Automated Pawn System ( APS). If a match is found, the owner is contacted as well as MPD investigators.

Citizens may inquire in person or by phone as to whether any items they have had stolen or lost have been pawned by the contacting the Pawn Shop Section of the Property and Evidence Unit located at:

Pawn Shop Section
Minneapolis City Hall
350 South 5 th Street, Room 33
Minneapolis, MN 55415-1389
(612) 673-2932, option #2

Public service hours to inquire about pawned items are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Victims may also update their police report with additional items or information, such as serial numbers, model numbers, or descriptions, by contacting the Pawn Shop Section.

In addition, Pawn Shop Section personnel can answer general questions about pawn shops and how the police work with them.
