Procedural Justice Division
More than a dozen faith leaders, serving diverse communities, from Minneapolis represent the MPD in a variety of ways. Chaplains deliver death notifications and attend dozens of community events annually.
Community Engagement Team (CET)
CET officers are assigned as key liaisons to the diverse communities of Minneapolis. CET officers deliver community awareness programs, host community events and connect community members to police services. The MPD’s CET model has been hailed as a progressive, national “best practices” model throughout the nation. Officers are dedicated to the following communities:
- Latino Community
- East African Community
- LGBTQ Community
- Native American Community
- Public Housing and Mental Health Community
- Asian Community
- African American Community
- Bike Cops for Kids
Procedural Justice Unit
The team was created to increase trust between officers and community members. It presents a training program to sworn and non-sworn staff members focusing behaviors and attitudes that impact relationships. The program is also presented to community members and law enforcement agencies throughout the nation.
