Juvenile Division

The Minneapolis Police Department’s Juvenile Division coordinates the MPD’s outreach and response efforts focusing on the youth of Minneapolis. The division consists of outreach and investigative teams, as well as the Juvenile Diversion Program. The team works with community organizations and the criminal justice system to help provide resources to support young men and women in the city.

Juvenile Investigations
Juvenile Investigators are assigned cases where non-adult suspects are identified in a variety of crimes including assault, robbery, weapons violations, and auto theft.

Juvenile Outreach and Diversion
This unit includes officers who work with the city’s youth to offer service, mentorship and opportunities to young men and women who live in Minneapolis. The MPD also has School Resource Officers assigned to schools throughout the city. They provide students with the opportunity to interact with police in a positive setting while emphasizing decriminalization and diversion.

Police Activities League (PAL)
The Minneapolis Police Activities League strives to develop strong community, youth and police relationships through mentorship, activities, events and athletics. The goal is help youth discover their potential, find value in their own creativity, gain confidence, and develop life-skills through various activities.

Missing and Absentee Investigations
Investigators work missing and exploited children cases.
