Parking Meters

The City of Minneapolis operates 6800 parking meters located throughout the city.

  • Meters have varying time restrictions and rates.
  • Time restrictions and rates are posted on each meter.
  • Street signs with rates and restrictions are also posted for each block.
  • Rates and restrictions can vary on different sides of the street.

Paying Meters

You can pay Minneapolis parking meters two ways:

  • Meters accept US quarters and both Susan B. Anthony and Sacajawea dollar coins.
  • Or, use a Minneapolis Parking Card. It’s a convenient alternative to coins. Learn more about parking cards.

Do not use pennies, nickels or dimes; it will not add time to the meter!
